For the monograph «Forms of Artistic Presentation in Ivan Franko’s Short Prose» (1999), he was awarded the prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine named after O. Honchar for young scientists (2001).

Biography

Mykola Lehkyi was born on November 9, 1968 in the village of Zalaniv, Rohatyn’ district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

He studied Ukrainian philology at the Ivan Franko University of Lviv (1985–1992) and at the graduate school of the Lviv branch of the Institute of Literature named after T. G. Shevchenko of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1992–1995).

He worked as a junior researcher, researcher and senior researcher at the Lviv branch of the Institute of Literature named after T. G. Shevchenko of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (now the Ivan Franko Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). Currently, he is the head of the department of Franko’s studies of this institution.

From 1996 to 2022, he worked at the Institute of Franko’s Studies of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

In 1997, he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences «Forms of artistic presentation in Ivan Franko’s short prose».

From 1999 to 2001, he worked as an associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature at the National University «Kyiv-Mohyla Academy», where he taught the courses «Narrative Aspect of the Study of Ukrainian Literature» and «Introduction to Poetics».

In 2021, he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences «Ivan Franko’s Prose: Poetics, Aesthetics, Reception in Criticism».
