Ukrainian poetry of the interwar period, the work of Yevhen Malaniuk, Bohdan Kravtsiv, Svyatoslav Gordynskyi, Yuriy Daragan, Oleksa Stefanovych, Volodymyr Yaniv, Natalia Livytska-Kholodna, Hala Mazurenko, Oksana Lyaturynska and others; the Ukrainian emigration poetic process in Western Europe; aesthetic directions of poetry at the junction of epochs; creativity of sixties poets; Strletsky and Upiv poetry, problems of the modern literary process.

Biography

He was born on January 7, 1942 in the village of Vyktoriv, Halytsky district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Doctor of philological sciences, professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature named after Academician Mykhailo Wozniak. In 1969, he graduated from Ivan Franko Lviv State University. In 1977, he defended his candidate’s thesis “Modern Ukrainian ballad in interactions with Russian and Belarusian ballads: (Problems of typological development)”, in 1993 he defended his doctoral thesis “Stylish differentiation in the Western Ukrainian and Ukrainian emigration poetic process of the interwar period (1914-1941)” under specialty 10.01.01 – Ukrainian literature. During 1969–1971, he worked as a journalist, a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature. Since 1972, he was a junior researcher at the Department of Ukrainian Literature and the Department of History of Ukraine at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1977, he defended his candidate’s thesis “Typological features of the East Slavic ballad genre” and became a teacher at the Lviv Polytechnic. In 1991-2021, he was the head of the Department of Ukrainian Literature named after Academician Mykhailo Wozniak. During 1995-2004, he was the dean of the Faculty of Philology. He is studying the history of Ukrainian literature of the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. and a course on the history of Ukrainian literature of the 60s-80s of the 20th century. The supervisor of the PhD thesis of the graduate student Pastukh Bohdan “Early experimental novel of Volodymyr Vinnichenko (1911-1916)” from the specialty 10.01.01 – Ukrainian literature. Member of the specialized council D. 35.051.06 – on the specialty 10.01.01 – Ukrainian literature at the Ivan Franko Lviv National University; member of the expert council of the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine; member of the editorial board of collections of scientific works “Ukrainian Literary Studies”, “Literary Studies Notebooks”.
