Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature named after Academician Mykhailo Wozniak of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, active member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society.

He was born on April 24, 1953 in the village of Orativ, Vinnytsia region. In 1975, he graduated with honors from Ivan Franko Lviv State University, majoring in Ukrainian language and literature, and began working as an assistant at the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens. He worked for two years at the Conakry Polytechnic Institute named in the Republic of Guinea. Since 1985, he has been a graduate student of the Department of Ukrainian Literature. In 1989, he defended his candidate’s thesis “Political lyrics of Ivan Franko (uniqueness of poetics)”. He received the scientific degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences in 2006, having defended his thesis “The Poetics of Ivan Franko’s Lyrics”. Since 1989, he has been working as an associate professor, professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Vice-President of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers of Foreign Literature.

Author of the monographs “Ivan Franko’s Lyrical Universe: Horizons of Poetics”, “Like Organs in the Great Temple…”: Contexts and Intertexts of Ivan Franko (Comparative Studies)”; co-author of “History of Ukrainian literature of the 19th century (70-90 years): in 2 books; 5th and 8th volumes of the academic “History of Ukrainian literature: in 12 volumes”; “Concepts of the test of general educational competence of graduates of general educational institutions”. Member of the editorial board of academic collections “Ukrainian Literary Studies”, “Bulletin of Lviv University. Philological series”, “MANUSCRIPT: Classical heritage and modern literary process” (Kyiv).

Head of the professional commission, expert on Ukrainian literature of the Ukrainian Center for Evaluation of the Quality of Education; senior examiner, member of the appeal commission for Ukrainian literature of the Lviv Regional Center for Evaluation of the Quality of Education; the main expert on Ukrainian literature of the “Sunflower” International Game.

He has experience working as a member of the jury of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Ukrainian language and literature, the jury of the Lviv regional prize in the fields of culture, literature, art, journalism and architecture, he headed the jury of regional competitions of the Lviv regional Small Academy of Sciences.

He was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the badge “Excellence of Education of Ukraine”, certificates of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv State Administration, the certificate of the Forum of Publishers in Lviv, the Certificate of Honor of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania, the medal “20 years of restoration of the Scientific Society named after Shevchenko in Ukraine”.
